This Summer, on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th July, Brentford Dock Celebrates the 150th Anniversary of Brunel's Dock.

Join us and celebrate with local people and interested enthusiasts of Industrial Architecture, River Transport, Sail Steam and Diesel.

Brentford Dock is a Private Estate and will be open to the public for two days only.

Brentford Dock and The Railway Book Cover

Dock Resident and local historian Diana Willment has written a book about the history of the initial design, construction and operation of the Old Brentford Dock. It is highly recommended to anyone interested in the history of GWR and the local area.

This book will be on sale on the 11th/12th of July.

Toilet facilities are available.

 

Parking

There will unfortunately be no parking available on the Brentford Dock.

Please park in nearby streets or in the dedicated car park on East Street off Commercial Road. See map Here.

One way traffic system

Augustus Close will be used for incoming traffic only and you will leave Brentford Dock using Dock Road.

All this will happen around Brentford Dock's Marina between 12.00 and 22.30 on Saturday and 12.00 and 17.00 on Sunday.

Free Vintage Shuttle Buses

Old Bus

Free shuttle buses every hour to the Musical Museum and the Kew Bridge Steam Museum.

A 1934 (AEC Regent 1- STL441) Double decker bus on Saturday and a 1953 (AEC Regal IV RF-type) Single decker bus on Sunday.

The buses will run between 12.00 and 17.00.

There will be a 2 for one entry to The Musical Museum and Kew Bridge Steam Museum on Saturday and Sunday, (standard conditions apply).

Kew Musical Museum will have a special 150 GWR Brentford Branch Festival.

 

Kew Bridge Steam Museum

Saturday is a Brentford Dock sponsored day at Kew Bridge Steam Museum, with some of their fine steam engines running.

  • MSO's working Tug boat will be around during the weekend.

Brentford Boating Arch

Brentford Boating Arch

Our local Canoe Club - Boating Arch - will be coming up to the dock to play a match of Canoe Polo in the Marina! It will be a match of Brentford against Chiswick and will start at 6pm on Saturday.

They will also be available to give children a chance to canoe around the marina, age 6 to 16 in a boat on their own, with parents concent obviously! We hope to have the Boating Arch around on Sunday as well!

Fire Engines

We will have a Chiswick fire engine between 2 and on 4 Sunday. We also hope to have a Fire engine from Heston Fire station on Saturday.

On Sunday a Community Safety will be offering free home safety reviews. There will be giveaways for the children and they can climb on the fire engine, Great fun!

London Fire Brigade

 

Opening Cermony

Robert Rankin will perform the opening ceremony of BD150 at noon tomorrow. He will be very funny! Bring your camera.

Rober Rankin

Robert Rankin author of the Brentford Trilogy, is a special guest over this weekend. This will be the first opportunity to get a paperback copy of Necrophenia and have the man sign it. Check out Robert's fan club web site:

RNLI

RNLI

RNLI will have an Exhibition Stand and we hope to have their Rescue Boat moored on our outside pontoon.

There will also be a film from RNLI rescue services in the old warehouse.

 

Historical Narrow Boat

The Classic 72 foot working narrow boat "Roger" will be visiting us from Rickmansworth Waterways Trust.

 

Drinks

Fullers Brewery

Beer, Wine and Soft drinks will be available from a Fuller's Drinks Trailer.

Art Show

Art Show and Old Photographs of the Dock in the Marina Club.

There will also be Cream Teas and Coffee served by Brentford Dock's Residential Association.

 

Vintage Film

There will be a Vintage Film in the marina warehouse about how goods were transported on the canals in the old days. Sponsored by Pellings.

BCC will have an Exhibition Stand and will have passenger boat trips around the marina.

 

Kayak competition

There will be a "Round The World Kayak Competition" at 14.00 on Saturday and possibly on Sunday.

This is your chance to try out a Kayak.

 

The Brewery Tap

Our nice old fashioned local Fuller's Pub Brewery Tap Brentford, can be found nearby in Catherine Wheel road. It is open between between noon and midnight on Saturday and Sunday.

 

Kew Fire Works

Kew Gardens will have the last Summer Swing Concert on Saturday 11 July and their firework display around 10pm, coincides nicely with our 150th Anniversary.
